Hi Tim,

Thanks for you return.

The Apogee[1] project is really really cool and highly ambitious.
Yes it is. ;-)

I have a few questions.
* The proposal says Apogee will build generic concepts like content
types, workflow, synchronization. You already have this in CPS. Can't
  you use that?
The first goal is to define an interface that this rich client will use to access to an ECM Platform.
CPS has those features like many ECM platform.

What will do the client is provide the UI to those features. But since we want to be able ot work offline, we also have to implement, inside Apogée, those concepts : content type, workflow actions, actions (eclipse's view), etc.

Will there be two implementations of those featues, one java-based and one in CPS?
See above. :-)
Apogée have to know ECM concept to manipulate them and provide the UI.

For exemple, Apogée need to know what is a “content type", where to get views (edit, create, etc.). That is where XForms comes in: the server could be able to provide those views (using XForms) to Apogée and Apogée could use them to generate native forms.

* How will you integrate Apogee with CPS? For instance the mail clients
(web and rich), will they share everything except the UI part?
Apogée will be a complete client to CPS, like the web browser do using HTML/JS. But Apogée will be a Rich Client with more intelligence and feature than what you can do in the browser.

* How do I read up on this stuff so I can help out with a line of code
  or two?
Easy ! :-)
Here is how :
        - check out the code (http://svn.nuxeo.org/pub/Apogee)
        - subscribe to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
        - read the doc and the code
        - take something you like and discuss it on the apogee mailing-list
        - code, code, code :-)
        - send a patch or ask for an SVN access and commit

and more important... do *not* hesitate to ask question and discuss you ideas on the apogee mailing-list or on the eclipse.technology newsgroup.

Thanks for your interest,

EB.

PS: it's really great to have this kind of feedback ;-)
