the settings in portal_themes > "method themes" override the front page
for all themes.
From the description in ticket 1420 I can't deduct a workaround for
3.4.0 is there one ?
you can remove the 'index_html' method theme in portal_themes > "method
themes", but the front page won't be used anymore.
one way of putting back the front page is by adding a rewrite directive in apache.conf to make it use .../yoursite/?page=front if the url is '/yoursite/'
