OK, that could be the difference.

In CPS 3.2, the directories asked the user folder for information, and the LDAP integration was done via the user folder. In CPS 3.4 this is done the "other way around", and the user folder asks the directories for information, and the ldap integration is done by replacing the standard directories with LDAP directories.

I'm not 100% sure on the details of setting that up, but in any case I think there is no upgrade step for it, which means you will have to do that manually, probably before the installing the profile.
