Of course there has. Loads of them. Each of them with it's own peculiarities.

it to make it less credible, so that you could ignore it.

 of records by hand just because "a CMS is not na HTML interface
 to a bunch of SQL tables".

You don't need to insert thousands of documents by hand. Writing a
script for it is usually not a complicated affair.
