It boggles my mind that there is STILL no multi-platform secure instant 
messaging application that I can install without running an obscure form 
of Linux or installing (at the expense of every working application currently 
on my machine) Python or some crap like that?

All I want is to send secure IMs to my AOL / ICQ contacts.  The PGP ICQ 
plugin stinks and crashes half the time.

If I could code I'd just make one myself.  But I can't.

How hard can it really be to just write a plug-in to do symmetric key encryption 
for AIM / ICQ / Yahoo and use out-of-band methods (PGP?) to exchange passwords?
