I heard August of this year, as the Nth version of the release date 
('97, '98, etc.), but who knows?

I don't even know if the article the editor got me to submit will be 
included. I wrote the thing several years ago, either the beginning 
of '96 or the beginning of '97. (And it was a rush job, as I was told 
the article had to be done in 10 days, to meet the deadline!)

The intent was to wrap the Vinge novella with a dozen or so related 
articles. While the Vinge novella will not appear to be dated, the 
articles likely will. The time they were solicited was at the 
beginning of the take-off of the Web, so I expect a lot of them will 
look archaic. Too bad.

But, like I said, I have no idea whether my article made the final 
cut. I've heard nothing whatsoever from the editor in at least a few 
years.
