*Community Radio Training Workshop Organised by Community Radio Forum (CRF) at Dahanu, Maharashtra July 1*^*st* * -4*^*th* * 2009 *
/ /Community Radio Forum-India is a registered association of community radio broadcasters, researches and advocates in India and its members have played a significant role in shaping and drafting the new CR policy currently in place. CRF believes in the power of community radio, is committed to democratization of India’s airwaves and works to enable community organizations to set up their own Community Radio Station. The CRF, being a membership based organization, is the only representative body of CR practitioners in India CRF is organising a 4 day workshop *in July 2009 (1*^*st* * - 4*^*th* * *) targeted primarily at communities and groups who have already applied for a CR license and are in the preparatory phase of setting up a CRS. However, groups considering setting up a CRS are also welcome. *Aims and Objectives of workshop *1. To demystify technological aspects of CRS 2. To understand the various aspects of content and programming required to run a CRS 3. To provide hands on training on content development and programming for a CRS Critical to the sustainability of community radio is affordable technology. The 4-day Workshop will discuss various options for studio as well as transmission equipment, aiming to provide a clear understanding and demonstration of the equipment required to set up and run a radio station. Besides transmission, both hardware as well as software options for radio programming and sound architecture will be displayed and discussed. Additionally, participants will spend time producing short duration programmes that they will edit, record and play back. (to be decided) *11 Lecture on *Sustainability of CR (Advertisement issues) * 1 Lunch and Wrap up of previous three days The Way forward 3 Departure * * *Logistics * Dahanu is located 120 kms north of Mumbai. It is best accessible from Mumbai for groups coming from the South, Central, Eastern parts of India. It takes approximately 3 hours from Mumbai to Dahanu. There are several trains heading to Gujarat that stop at Dahanu. There are also shuttles from Virar(Mumbai) to Dahanu. A list of trains will be sent to you on confirmation of participation. For groups coming from areas like Gujarat or Rajashtan, you can take trains that stop at Vapi, Gujarat and then get a connection from Vapi to Dahanu. It takes an hour from Vapi to Dahanu. From Dahanu station, the workshop is at a distance of 6 kms at Sogve village. Details on how to get here from Dahanu stations will be sent a few days prior to the workshop. *Contribution* The workshop is not being supported by any agency. Each participant will have to contribute a total of Rs. 4000 for the entire four day programme, which includes food, accommodation and other programme overheads. Note: Since the workshop is during the southwest monsoons and on a farm, please carry an umbrella, torch and suitable footwear.
