Well, that's an idea. At least we will find out whether WPC operates in classified mode (a recent attempt to unearth a document through RTI got the information that the process of classification is classified). We cannot train an auto driver to remember so many frequencies and then switch among them while crossing over from one region to another. Suggestion of Satish to hire slots in AIR FM Rainbow sounds good. Whether we can actually do so depends largely on the cost. Sajan suggested using Gyan Vani from IGNOU which covers the whole of NCR. That might be an idea worth exploring. I wonder if the timing will have a bearing on the cost! An hour around 1 p.m. repeated around 11 p.m. would be good for us. Whilst the process of applying for CR looks rather straightforward, it is not clear how the government actually decides an application and why it should take so long.. When Rakesh had called me I had suggested the same thing -- just broadcast on existing stations such as DU, Jamia, IGNOU, JIMS, IIMC, etc. You can cover a really large footprint this way. Arti ----------------- While Rakesh indeed has other options to reach his chosen audience, I fail to see why we are quietly accepting the government viewpoint that there are no frequencies left. Even the WPC* admits that major cities like Paris and New York** support many more radio stations within the same city (and don't forget, NCR is the largest urban area in the world). Just out of curiosity, how many stations are running/licensed in NCR right now? *although the worthy who admitted that, also opined that NYC has half its stations underground. Now we know what these guys learn on their foreign study trips. **At the time we had this conversation, at a TRAI Open House in Delhi, NY had 72 licensed stations. Vickram ----------------- Adding to Arti's list and based on OneWorld's experience, the other options that can be explored is hiring slot in AIR FM Rainbow. We have been broadcasting people's radio series - Ek Duniya Ek Awaaz <http://edaa.in/atOWSA/about-ek-duniya-ek-awaaz>on AIR FM Rainbow every Wednesday since 2005. And now we are broadcasting another series in partnership with Wada Na Todo Abhiyan <http://edaa.in/Members/wadanatodo>on Fridays, in the same slot. The responses we get is quite encouraging, we receive a good number of SMS from the listeners across NCR and around 10 more states.. The experience of Jane Ke Haq broadcast by Kabir <http://www.kabir.org..in/>on RTI also seems to have a good coverage and response. So you can also try these alternatives.
