COMMUNITY RADIO Awareness Workshop.
Radio Manipal FM 90.4, under the Manipal Institute of Communication, Manipal University conducted a '"Community Radio Workshop" addressed to NSS students selected from the colleges falling in the broadcast zone of the CR. At present Manipal Radio is broadcasting only one hour program 6 to 7 in the evening. Idea is to increase the duration as well as to facilitate participation of the community groups around the campus in the affairs of Manipal Radio. Objective of the Two Day workshop held on 20th and 21st of Sept. 2009, was to make the students aware of the importance of radio as a mass media and especially the community radio as community's own tool for express itself. Services of the motivated students will be used to organize local community groups to participate in the activities of community radio. Sri MV Kamath, Former Chairman, Prasar Bharathi inaugurated the workshop which facilitated by Mr.Abdul Rehman Pasha. A couple of celebrities who as youth benefited both personally and socially were invited to share experience. Mr.Shyam Bhat, the Program Chief of Manipal Radio has more plans to motivate community and cultural groups to take part in the planning, making and broadcasting of programs from the COMMUNITY RADIO.
