Hm, I read that to be satisfied by logging in at gdm (providing authentication), but you read it to require authentication when the action is performed. I think your interpretation is probably correct. > > The other thing that would be nice would be a way to get the real admin > > group, rather than just guessing that it's wheel. > > Unfortunately, with JavaScript in the picture, this question does not have a > well-defined/stable answer. I would expect that the admin group is always "wheel" on any Red Hat system, or always "admin" on any Debian system. I didn't realize it was possible to change it at runtime. How does that work (any documentation, or source code)? Thanks! > This is a Fedora policy, so OpenSUSE is not relevant. Ah well, here by "policy" I was confusingly referring to the rule in the man page, not the Fedora policy. That was poor wording. openSUSE policy is to violate the polkit policy for using polkit rules presented in the polkit man page, which is "don't use polkit rules." > You mean the Workstation “primarily be aimed at providing a platform for > development of server side and client applications”? The Workstation that aims to "create a stable, integrated, polished and user friendly system that can appeal to a wide general audience." But we can pick whatever quotes we want from the PRD without advancing this discussion. :) > Perhaps there are good reasons to revisit the policy in some way, but that is > not going to happen in a private conversation between the few of us. I will add a comment to the FESCo ticket; somebody else can decide whether or not to reopen the ticket. Thanks, Michael
