There is room within this one odd sentence for whole libraries of idiocy. The leap from "biochemical reactions" to "*all* characteristics of the organism" is a non sequitur, and neither a defense of nor attack on a given theory of evolution is valid if maintains this leap. Evolutionary psychology is less bad science than no science at all. Biology can explain why I need to ingest water. It has not a thing to say how I go about choosing a glass from the cupboard on a given occasion. Someone who knows enough to do so has to make the discrimination between bad science on the one hand and on the other hand what might be called inert science: it is perfectly valid and in itself has no particular implications, but is lying there handy for some fool to pick up and misuse. A confusion of these two processes does not help forward the critique of science.
