Humanity is at a critical crossroads with little choice but to start
"thinking" as if all do, indeed, possess such a capacity. The majority
of those in the "have" nations who are seeking signs / directions etc.
away from the consequences of the coming crisis are mostly concerned
with finding a way to guarantee some form of sustainable development
in order that their investment in / infection by the madness of greed
not be returned / rejected as "worthless".

Unfortunately, it seems that the inhabitants of those lands are
determined
that they will not wake to the oncoming reality that is about to
terminate
or otherwise write "finis" to their empty and valueless hopes and dreams
with respect to whatever amount of "More!" they still wish to amass.

While it is nice to have the luxury of time to argue ancient history,
little of any such discussions will add one iota of "worth" or "value"
to the efforts that are needed to face the oncoming crisis with any
degree of hope that there may be some way to avoid the dieoff as
predicted
and so well explained by Jay Hanson et al at http://www.dieoff.org .

The efforts by a few . . to have the majority develop a sense of concern
with regard to that crisis will soon render all philosophical views
worthless as humanity faces a barren world, denuded of its forests, and
with little readily available drinking water that can be depended upon
not to poison humans, livestock or other animals . . continue to fail.

Worse, we face the reality that politicians, in hope of continuing their
pursuit of power, will threaten to use nuclear and other Weapons of Mass
Murder in order to be able to seize or control the remaining oil so that
their nations, on becoming fully aware of the extent of the crisis, may
then focus on attempts to prepare some means by which the larger part of
their dependable electorate may survive.

If Jay Hanson is correct and there is "No Way Out" it behooves us to
cease worthless argument and to start doing our best to bring about a
sense of "Human Dignity" that might lead us to develop a credo that
will guide our descendants to forcefully reject the lies and deceptions
of those who will always search for power and its associated profits;
whatever the cost or consequences to all.

It is my belief that the necessary establishment of that sense of
"Human Dignity" can not take place until humanity faces a choice
between the total and all-out USE, OR DISMANTLING, of all nuclear
and other Weapons Of Mass Murder that it previously allowed to be
developed with its tax dollars.

The only way to bring about such a choice is to deny all nations
with such weapons those dollars without which they are unable to
maintain their arsenals . . leading to decisions by such nations
to use their weapons while still able to do so . . or risk a step
towards societal sanity by volunteering to dismantle their weapons
under supervision by the other nations. The societal costs of the
risks involved in that scenario are no greater than that which we
now face as America, Russia, China, Israel, Pakistan and India and
their respective allies plan their preparations to use their weapons
"If Need Be" in order to secure the oil without which they will not
be able to maintain their economies or produce the oil based
fertilisers on which the majority now rely for their food.

ie. The crisis is real, our responses to it must be made while there
is still a chance that calmer minds might prevail. Waiting until the
consequences of the "Peak Of Production" and the diminishment in
available oil has made itself fully known to us, is tantamount
to proclaiming that "All Is Lost And Nothing Matters!". We
MUST NOT allow such mindlessness to expand the scope
of the coming disaster.

Hopefully, those who have expended a great deal of energy
in defending their views of various political models and
theories shall now use that energy to help guide the
battle for humanity's survival.

Thank you.

To a safer, saner and more caring world. To Duty.
