FELLOW VOTERS: This message makes great sense. Please post it to your friends. /Harvey Arden, editor of Leonard Peltier's PRISON WRITINGS: MY LIFE IS MY SUNDANCE Forwarded Message: Subj: GREENS FOR GORE Date: 10/28/2000 2:05:25 PM Eastern Daylight Time From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] (Karen Chapman) To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] (Recipient List Suppressed) http://www.greensforgore.org/ We are Greens for Gore, citizens who believe it is critical for the fate of the USA and the world that a pro-choice, environmental, intelligent person be elected president in the year 2000. We appreciate Ralph Nader, and agree with his stands on almost every issue. We also respect Al Gore for his liberal views, and his thoughtful, intelligent explanation of our world environmental crisis. We are putting our support behind the lesser of two GOOD men, because it is essential for the planet and the nation that one of them WINS this election. As our progressive representative from Oregon's 5th district, Peter DeFazio so succinctly reminds us, "winning is everything!" This election is currently a dead heat between Bush and Gore. We support strategic voting; voting for Nader in states where the race is a clear win for either of the two major parties-- so the Green Party will get the 5% of the vote that will give the party a voice in this system-- but voting for Gore in the close race states, among them Oregon, Washington, Wisconsin, Michigan, Minnesota, & Maine, to avoid throwing those states over to Bush (see links for electoral vote maps: http://www.greensforgore.org/links.html ). Ralph himself said he wants Greens and progressive Democrats to vote strategically, voting Green in states where one major party or the other has a solid majority. See Nader advisor Steve Cobble's article, Your Vote Doesn't Matter, for more on this concept (both Nader & Cobble, of course, believe that a vote for Nader is exactly that - a vote for Nader). In An Open Letter >From Ani Difranco, Nader supporter Ani Difranco urges swing state residents to vote for Al Gore. We want 5% for the Green Party, but not at the expense of the Bush clan getting back into the White House! In swing states, a vote for Nader is a vote for Bush, and we can't let Bush win! A Bush presidency would be a disaster for to the environment, civil liberties, the Supreme Court, choice, campaign reform, and so many other things we hold dear. Join us in supporting Al Gore's presidential bid, and after the election, join us in the continuing battle to make a Gore administration as truly "Green" as we think it needs to be. The presidential campaign is only the first skirmish in a long struggle to save our environment and our liberties! ----------- Note Well: We are not the Green Party USA, nor the Democratic Party, and are not authorized by any candidate or any candidate's authorized committee. http://www.greensforgore.org/ ********************************************************** ADDENDUM from Harvey Arden EVERYONE-- Leonard called me from Leavenworth just a few moments ago (Sun 10/15/2000 10:45AM)... he's in unusually high spirits, and says he has reason to believe that "something good" is about to happen soon. He said he couldn't say more right now, but he's very hopeful of getting out. I'm tremendously heartened to hear that from Leonard. He's rarely sounded so optimistic. As you may know, I've been running a "WRITE-IN LEONARD PELTIER FOR PRESIDENT CAMPAIGN" all year, winning commitments from many many thousands of people around the country to cast their protest ballots for Leonard. I asked him just now if I should continue with this "LEONARD 4 PREZ CAMPAIGN," and he tells me, "Harvey, I appreciate your efforts, but tell all those who were going to vote for me that I release them from their commitment...and suggest to them, if they want to help me, to vote for Al Gore for President...that's what I would do if I could vote, and that's what I hope every one of my supporters will do..." Leonard's not TELLING people to vote Gore...he asks only that they vote their conscience. Maybe in the best of all possible worlds Nader would be Prez, Winona would Vice Prez and Leonard would be free. But, alas, this AIN'T the best of all possible worlds. Conscience tells ME that a Bush Presidency would be a disaster. If Mr. Nader is the man of conscience he seems to be, it's time for him to release his supporters to vote for Gore. He'd win the respect and admiration of millions--and an army of new supporters in 2004. PLEASE send this message TODAY to ALL you know! /Harvey Arden Editor of Leonard Peltier's PRISON WRITINGS: MY LIFE IS MY SUN DANCE ********************************************* _______________________________________________ Crashlist resources: http://website.lineone.net/~resource_base To change your options or unsubscribe go to: http://lists.wwpublish.com/mailman/listinfo/crashlist
