It is indeed a depressing scenario that you describe. I don't think the real
situation is as bleak as you paint it, however. I note, for example, that
African-American voters cast their ballots for independent political action
in the form of the Nader/Green Party campaign in higher percentage terms of
the total black voting population than did white voters as a percentage of
that voting population. The same is true of other minority communities. The
seeds for continued cooperation and growth have been planted.
