This conference is organised in order to disseminate the results of the TSER thematic network called �the Social construction of Employment� (Dir. Bernard FRIOT, France).
The conference deals with current debates, policies and institutions in European Community countries concerning:
the articulation between wage, taxation and insurance, and savings as sources financing employees�resources and social protection.
This conference is open to all of you :
policy and decision-makers at national and European level,
social partners, public ministries,
social researchers and analysts...
The structure of financing workers� resources and social protection, varies markedly between countries. In many countries, the scope of the wage and social contributions is shrinking and the role of taxation supported employment (for low-paid manpower) and profit-sharing (for the high-paid manpower) is increasing. However there are important societal differences in the articulation between the different modes of financing of employees� resources. There are also important differences in the chronologies and modalities of these developments from one country to another. The comparative perspective of the network helps to shed light on the nature of these differences.
This conference, organised in collaboration with the EC GD Research, will open a discussion on these topics and present possible ways of continuing the network�s research.
