This could be seen as a mechanical statement which separates matter from
energy philosophically.
It assumes an outside force that has to be added to something to change it.
Rather than thinking dialectically of a process which is inherently
changing and unstable.
Lenin's formulation was about reality consisting of "matter in motion" -
still quite thought provoking!
