As Germany plans to kill 400,000 cattle, my local fish and chip shop tells
me the price of cod has just jumped 6 pounds per stone, with the drastic
fishing restrictions. It is now 42 pounds sterling for one stone, 14
pounds weight.

I know that types of fish are very regional but two staple sources of
protein in Britain and Europe have suddenly had to come under unprecedented
social control.

In both cases this is the result of the development of the means of
production running into extremely serious ecological obstacles.

This trend looks irreversible.
