I've had the honor of being invited by the SPS to the same conference Jared
was, and I had the pleasure of meeting him (and many others from the world
over,
included the Cuban ambassador who came to bring support to the conference) in
Belgrade. I have also had the opportunity to gauge the enormous deal of
pressure
and hatred that is put on every Yugoslav citizen, and the fear and class
contempt of the Belgrade petty bourgeoisie against Milosevic and his followers.

I have also had a meeting with Milosevic, together with some five or six
people. My general impression not only agrees with that of Jared's, I also saw
him as a very smart and cunning guy, who took politics with some merry
commitment to life and struggle, the kind of commitment I personally like in
politicians.

This is not a guy who would commit suicide, indeed. By the way, and since his
attempted arrest (or murder) was _obviously_ a delivery-on-demand, and this
demand had a clear deadline, I would like to make sure of whether Milosevic
decided to "surrender" on March 31st or on April 1st. If the second, then even
during this most tense moment he managed to make a ludicrous remark out of his
"captors", namely that it was _he_ who set the date.

>From the point of view of the reconstruction of the awareness of the oppressed
classes in Serbia, things like the above are far from details. But I am not
sure, because the press here in Argentina is lying from the first page to the
last one. The climate in the "International news" sections resembles that which
pervaded Argentinean press in the immediate aftermath of the 1955 coup that
overthrew Perón.

And it is not a matter of chance.
