Why should Lichforms be able to walk into water?

We've had this discussion before in regards to undead. I don't know
that any of us think that mummies, vampires and ghouls should be able
to tromp through deep water (there was, in my recollection, some
disagreement about what should happen to them -- instadeath, massive
damage, etc. -- was this ever resolved?)

While we're on the subject: should we allow merfolk to submerge in deep water?

Cheers,
Brendan
