Hi! There's a question about this year's tournament.
Even last year, there was talk about reducing the duration. In addition, there already was an unofficial tournament this year. Proposed durations: * Aug 1 - Aug 31, as usually * unspecified three weeks * three weekends (at least 16 days) * elliptic proposes Aug 13 - Aug 28 Let's discuss! Also, this timing affects the release. Greensnark analyzed it last year, and I agree with him: with the tournament starting at Aug 1st, branching must be done no later than July 1st, and actual release no later than July 24. For 0.7, this meant the real release rather than just target date, but with improvements to CDO, the inevitable slippage wouldn't be fatal as long as it doesn't exceed 1-2 days. If the tournament started later, the timetable shifts accordingly. I doubt we can do the laundry list of things in three days, so this sounds tempting. -- 1KB // Microsoft corollary to Hanlon's razor: // Never attribute to stupidity what can be // adequately explained by malice. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ All of the data generated in your IT infrastructure is seriously valuable.
