It's a fairly good suggestion indeed. Starting a project from discussion is likely to lead to exactly what you described (GMPI, anyone?). Doing a proof of concept and then iteratively improving it as a result of consequent discussion is the way to create a viable project. People have been hearing about plans for L-G website since LGM2009. If there are people who really care about the idea, it's about time something real was done.
