I have now checked with the install at http://trunk_5612.runbot.openerp.com:9459 and can see offline mode is working there successfully. The only thing that did not entirely work was printing when offline. It did send to PDF, but the PDF is garbled while I am offline. When Online the receipts get printed to PDF correctly. The orders went through when reconnecting and clicking the red area with pending orders in the upper right corner. I have opened Bug #914576 to deal with the invalid PDF. This issue appear to have been resolved even though I did not try installing on my own server.

According to Point of Sales page (http://www.openerp.com/products/pos), the system should work even in offline mode and synchronize when the connection goes up again. This is what I have done: 0) Install "openerp-6.1dev-20111123-020001.tar.gz" on a virtual server. Go to the ipaddress using port 8069 using Firefox 8.0 Setup the system with "generic accounts". Click to install the POS system.
