Thank you for the explanation. You have a challenging environment! As I wrote previously in this thread, I think it would be very good for reduce-array-size to work harder to avoid doing "obviously" bad things, e.g., when subscripts are constants. This will make it more useful more often, without (I expect) making it less useful for any situation that I can imagine at the moment. I hope that Yang Chen will have some time to work on this when he returns from his current travel. But ultimately, reduce-array-size will not be able to avoid doing "subtly" bad things. So maybe for you, it will go from working 50% of the time to working 90% of the time. (I'm making up numbers here.) --- And for me, too, because in my current project, I reject programs with undefined behaviors.
