Correction: Please allow 1.5 hours from Gatwick airport, and the buses run every hour, not every half hour. Details of bus timetables can be found on the Oxford Bus Company web site: www.oxfordbus.co.uk. Trains from Birmingham International are hourley. Train times can be found on www.railtrack.co.uk. Oxford is served by Thames Trains, First Great Western and Virgin Cross Country.

Travel: Oxford is situated on the M40 motorway, with direct buses every half hour from Heathrow Airport and Gatwick Airport. There are also direct train services from Birmingham International Airport and Central London. Journey times for all of these are approximately 1 hour. Please note that there is no ca parking available in the Hotel, but there are good Park and Ride bus services from the edge of Oxford. Accommodation: The Randolph is less than generous with its corporate room rate: £140 per night. Other hotels include: The Royal Oxford Hotel (fairly central) The Eastgate Hotel (ditto) The Cotswold Lodge Hotel (North Oxford - 15 minutes walk) Linton Lodge Hotel (North Oxford - 15 minutes walk) The Holiday Inn is a new building on the edge of Oxford near the Park and Ride, with all the charisma of multiplex cinema. There are numerous up-market B&Bs in Oxford, and small hotels. One cheap one that I have heard reasonable things of is the Riverside Hotel. I will try to get phone numbers and prices of these to you, but this may be enough for you to make a start with. Socials: I have suggested to Martin that we have dinner on the Thursday evening at the Cherwell Boathouse restaurant (near the Linton and Cotswold Lodge hotels). If the weather is good we could precede this with an hour on the river in punts (part of the Oxford experience). Let me know if this appeals so that I can book a table. I will be able to make suggestions for pubs for other evenings. Looking forward to seeing you in Oxford.
