A) John Wallrodt would like to join the CRM-SIG representing his department at the University of Cincinnati. His interest is the integration of multi-season and complex excavation archives with other sources. Her interest is the integration of the museum catalogues starting with the anthropology collection. William J Pestle is working on the Kish data. This is an excavation in Iraq excavated in the 20s and 30s by 3 institutions. The project is integrating data from all three museums together with the excavation records, photographs and even very early movies. The intention is to have live access to the data by late this year and includes data about the objects and their documentation. They will also write up their experience for the joint CAA/CIDOC Standards initiative. Some of his interests related to the Semantic Web are: - The psychological grounding of concepts - How concepts actually emerge and change over time - The emergence of concepts from an evolutionary point of view - The expressive resources of natural language - The Semantic Web standards from the point of view of the semantics of natural languages - Philosophical presuppositions embedded in the Semantic Web standards (e.g. in relation to Aristotelian vs. Heideggerian ontology) He has started to analyze the formal structure of the CIDOC CRM expressions from a linguistic point of view. The actual project he is currently working with is related to Church Art and Architechture with the University of Jyva"skyla" in Finland.
