Hi
When I left office as ICOM-CIDOC Chair in November 2010, we had an
ongoing process with ICOM and ISO. ISO apparently accepted that ICOM
could have rights to the working drafts as long as ISO had the rights to
the standard. The idea was to ditribute CRM under Attribution-ShareAlike
CC BY-SA (?) which is the same as Wikipedia. The iddea is that CRM
should be used as much as possible including commercial osftware
The French legal consultant of ICOM had apparently not heard about
Creative Commons in 2010 and produced a complicated draft for rights in
French legal genre.
The right person to ask about the current state of the process is Nick
Crofts, the current Chair of ICOM-CIDOC and also the former liaison to ISO.
Regards,
Christian-Emil

Dear SIG,
There is currently a twitter discussion about the legal rights to CRM and some
confusion. I know I have seen a written statement on this, but I am unable to
find it now. Could somebody send me a pointer to it so I can clarify the
matter? Or could someone knowledgeable tweet about it?
You will find it connected to hashtag #CAAPerth - the people involved are
@ekansa and @verdewek

Øyvind
