So don't rename it. The new name will be missing and the previous
available name is a best guess. This is almost precisely what we need
to support for 'mature' projects.
A much better idea; "A revision feature" is made available under the new
name delegating to the old name and instructing P2 to relax upper bounds
on version dependencies. The revision feature could be contributed to
the train by any project that has an ongoing interest in the required
project and which is prepared to do at least some exercising to
demonstrate that the reused feature with relaxed version upper bounds is
useful.
