Posts on this list have shown disagreement on how to label our versions, despite the general agreement to use semantic versioning.
Where and when will we have the full discussion? I strongly feel the discussion must be held, I am willing to say the bad words: its not only about understanding the technical details of semantic versioning but we do need more *discipline* in this regard to (re)gain reputation and provide predictability to our valued users. I see the difficulty that each particular case we may raise will cause that some people feel offended and such emotions will stand in our way. But then, how can we learn from mistakes? I don't think delegating everything to particular bugs helps us as a community to develop a common understanding.
