I started with http://projects.eclipse.org/ and the result is not readable... even after many reloads (F5 and shift-F5) the result is either a "connection reset" or a web page that doesn't render properly.
When I (manually) switch to SSL https://projects.eclipse.org it seems to solve the problems. Maybe the redirects/rewrites are not working? Could be the same issue that you saw with the marketplace pages.
