and to add to the confusion, *some* bges have multiple rx rings.

    The following bge MACs have 16 rx rings:
    BCM5700/5701/5702/5703C/5703S/5704C/5704S

I've run crossbow on Dell desktops and Acer laptops.   Check here
for specific hardware components and configurations.
