I am updating the FAQ, and the old limit of 900 'public' VNICs is no longer in place. I am at 7100 and counting on a single bge interface. I take it there is no more limit?
Interestingly, I hit an error around 5500, where the random MAC address was not unique. I guess there is no collision detection and retry. dladm: vnic creation over bge3 failed: MAC address is already in use I am using 'dladm create-vnic -l bge3 -m auto $L', where $L is vnicXYZ and XYZ is an increasing integer. In the meantime, I am over 10500 VNICs, and have had two MAC address collisions. Steffen
