Hi Kai,
Your device is the same with mine, and my Nexus 5 is also based on Android
4.4.2 (not Android 4.3).
I don’t know if you are following the correct process to use Crosswalk.
Please see:
https://crosswalk-project.org/#documentation/getting_started/build_an_application

Here is an example, hope it is helpful for you. The following are the main
steps.
1. Download binary from
https://download.01.org/crosswalk/releases/android-arm/canary/crosswalk-5.34.94.0-arm.zip
2. Prepare a simple html to verify screen orientation, named “landscape.html”
<html>
<body>
<h1>Hello World<h1>
<script>
window.screen.lockOrientation(“landscape”);
</script>
</body>
</html>
3. Use make_apk.py script to package sample app into apk.
    e.g. python make_apk.py --package=com.crosswalk.sample
--name=XWalkScreenOrientation --app-root=/var/www/screen
--app-local-path=landscape.html --mode=embedded
   You can change the “--app-root” to your local absolute path where
landscape.html is located.
4. Install the produced apk XWalkScreenOrientation _arm.apk into device, and
launch it.

I don’t know if you are doing the similar process.
If it still doesn’t work, please paste the log information.

Regards
Li Yin

Hi Kai,
Screen Orientation API is supported on Crosswalk Android 4 beta and newer
version.
window.screen.lockOrientation("landscape") should work fine on Crosswalk Canary
build.
I just verified on Nexus 5 (Android 4.3) based on crosswalk-5.34.94.0 image.
https://download.01.org/crosswalk/releases/android-arm/canary/crosswalk-5.34.94.0-arm.zip.

Could you please clarify which device and the OS version are you using?

Thanks,
Li Yin

Does the method return true or false? It should work yet if the device supports
the locking.

Hi,

I try to lock the orientation on Android with the latest Canary build, with
'window.screen.lockOrientation("landscape")', but it does not seem to have any
effect.
Am I correct, that it should work with the latest version?

I do not use the XDK.

Kind regards,
Kai
