Glad to see they can work.
About permissions, we add the default ones and need users to define extra
permissions for special APIs which are listed here:

I was able to answer some of my own questions ... added below

I have a few more comments:

1. please update the documentation so that there is an actual link to the
stable arm version (was hard to find) - (crosswalk-4.32.76.5-arm)

2. please tell me how to make the permissions in android install follow the
permissions listed in manifest.json (currently - there are none listed in
manifest.json and the app still asks for ALL permissions when installing)
According to the permissions section here - the permissions should be copied
over from manifest.json ... but my permissions list is empty and the app still
asks for all kinds of things when installed:
https://www.npmjs.org/package/crosswalk-apk-generator

If it's because of the default apis available to a standard web application
(e.g. audio, network) maybe you should disable those until asked for in the
manifest. Just an idea (I know it would probably require hooks into the js
engine to enable/disable... somehow...but would then give a smaller list of
permissions when installing on android)

3. how do I use my own certificate for signing an app to be put on google play?
Found some info under keystore options in this doc:
https://www.crosswalk-project.org/#wiki/Try-Crosswalk I'll have to try it out.

4. when is there an iOS version ready? - or can some of this be packaged in
another framework until there is one? (we need both android and iOS)

5. I didn't find any link to docs on orientation lock - so I was luck that
Kenneth Christiansen was online to help me on a Saturday (thanks Kenneth!)

6. the accelerometer readings seem to be the opposite (some axis at least) when
comparing with iOS. Maybe it would be a good idea to make sure everything is
100% aligned (this might be a chromium thing)

also - I've put up 2 small demos here that seem to work on my nexus 4:
