Hi, Priya

(cc
[email protected]<mailto:[email protected]>
for those who are also interesting in your issues)

Issue :With Cordova-Crosswalk(5.34.104.5) , we started getting screen
flickering issues in Samsung Note 10.1.
Then we investigated and found errors in logcat related to display :
Gralloc:out of memory.
Please find attached log "14Oct2014.txt'
[hmin] Would the error message “invalid gralloc handle (at 0x0)” only happen
after you launch your crosswalk app? You can verify this by 1) Run “adb logcat
-c”;2) Re-launch your app and then see the adb logcat output.

Regarding to the screen flickering, could you please describe the details? Does
the screen firstly becomes white and shows the app in a very short time, or
something else?

I compiled my projects successfully, but when I run my app on device(Samsung
Note 10.1) , I get an error "Unfortunately app has stopped".
[hmin] It is a strange failure without any more information. Is the error
showed in a popup dialog or output by adb logcat? If the Crosswalk is crashed,
the adb logcat would output the Java exception or native information (e.g.
register, call trace).

Thanks…Hongbo

Subject: Re: Follow-up: Gralloc out of memory

Hi Min,

Thanks for your response.

I would elaborate the problem here to give you a better insight into it:

1) Initially we had Cordova app and to boost up its performance we integrated
it with crosswalk.
Here Crosswalk version that we are using is:
https://download.01.org/crosswalk/releases/crosswalk/android/stable/5.34.104.5/arm/

2) Issue :With Cordova-Crosswalk(5.34.104.5) , we started getting screen
flickering issues in Samsung Note 10.1.
Then we investigated and found errors in logcat related to display :
Gralloc:out of memory.
Please find attached log "14Oct2014.txt'.
Our app uses is doing extensive use of dynamic images which cannot be made
static.

3) Yesterday , I was trying to upgrade crosswalk version.
https://download.01.org/crosswalk/releases/crosswalk/android/stable/8.37.189.12/arm/

and I followed this link :
https://github.com/crosswalk-project/crosswalk-cordova-android#requires

and following steps:
• Import Crosswalk-based Cordova Android and XWalkCoreLibrary library projects
by File > Import... > Existing Android Code Into Workspace. Point
to[path_to_cordova_xwalk_android]/framework and click Finish.
• Build xwalk_core_library and Cordova projects.
• Import generated project by File > Import... > Existing Android Code. Point
to the generated app path.
• Right click on the project root: Run as > Run Configurations
• Click on the Target tab and select Manual (this way you can choose the
emulator or device to build to)

I compiled my projects successfully, but when I run my app on device(Samsung
Note 10.1) , I get an error "Unfortunately app has stopped".

There are nor errors logs so no clue that what went wrong. Any suggestion what
could be wrong here?

Answer to your questions here:

1. Is it the same as your usage scenario? Please correct me if I am wrong.

Yes this is one of the scenarios that describes how we are using dynamic images
in our app.

2. Do you have a try on other Android devices except Samsung Galaxy Note 10?
Yes, we did on Samsung Tab2. Crosswalk did not have screen flicker issues on
Tab2 but I am not sure about gralloc memory issue.
I can test it on Tab2 and let you know regarding the same.

Please let me know your suggestions regarding how to resolve this issue.

Thanks for all your help

Hi,

Thanks for using Crosswalk and reporting the issue to us.

Before I dig into the issue your reported at
https://crosswalk-project.org/jira/browse/XWALK-2730, I try to create a test
case for reproducing it according to your descriptin.

The attached test case is also uploaded to the bugzilla just now. Could you
please have a review and confirm the following 2 questions?

1. Is it the same as your usage scenario? Please correct me if I am wrong.

2. Do you have a try on other Android devices except Samsung Galaxy Note 10?

Thanks in advance.

Hongbo
