Hello!,

we are doing some tests with xwalk to see if we can replace our current
phonegap based application. For us the most important feature is being able to
play videos at full HD (1080). This is something that our target android
devices are capable of doing without any problems as it can be demonstrated by
using the built in media player. The hardware is a dual core cortex A9 1.6Ghz,
with a Quad-core Mali 400 GPU. Android 4.2.2.

You can read more about it here:
http://www.minix.com.hk/Products/MINIX-NEO-X5mini.html

Now, when using xwalk we have two issues. The first one is that the video
playback takes between 2 to 5 seconds to start (while starting a video with
builtin media player is instantaneous), the other is that the video playback is
not very smooth, largest problem is that from time to time some "hack" appears
which makes it very noticeable.

I tried using latest version of Chrome (version 39), video decoding is even
worse here, very jerkey. In the chrome:\\flags it says that it is using
hardware video decoding but not hardware rasterization (gpu_rasterization
disabled), seems like the GPU in this device is not fully supported. However we
can force it to use the GPU in chrome:\\flags, and after that the video playing
is much better.

So my questions are:
1) Is GPU rasterization enabled by default in xwalk, or is it disabled as in
Chrome?, if so, can it be forced, and is it a good idea to do it?.
2) What other tips can you give me to improve the video playing performance?

Best regards,

Manuel.
