Packaging dependent installer is one use case of the hooks. E.g. for realsense extensions, it is used to package the RSSDK runtime installer. Please see https://github.com/crosswalk-project/realsense-extensions-crosswalk/blob/master/scripts/XWalkExtensionHooks_template.js for implementation details. @Donna @Robert might have more insights to share. We have two options as we see to deal with this: 1. To link statically the lib(s) inside the extension project. So the DLLs wouldn't be required. a. The problem with this approach is that DLLs such as runtime DLLs might be updated through windows updates but this update won't apply to the extension. 2. To include the redistributable inside the installation: a. This requires the intervention of the developer of the Crosswalk app that is willing to include our extension in. b. This might be not intuitive. How do you suggest to deal with this? Is there a way to easily cause developers to point on links or include installers such as https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=48145 ? Is it preferred to include the runtime as a static lib in Crosswalk or use the DLL installed by the redistributable installation?
