One other thing that I'm not quite sure if it'll help is that the self adjusters are basically locating pins that "float" the caliper over the pads. These pins have been known to sieze causing weird pad wear, and the like. Each time I do my brakes, I remove the pins from their boots, and lube 'em up, while also spraying brake cleaner in the hole and blowing it out to make sure that no rust has gotten in there to cause a potential problem.
