I guess I'm not the only one who has experienced (or continue to experience...) this problem because I have gotten at least 10 emails asking to let them know what I find out.

The update/status:

Yesterday I left work for home around lunch so that it would give Jiggy a few hours to cool.  On my way home, there's a Honda dealership so I stopped in and picked up a thermostat and a new temp-gauge sending unit.  The thermostat was around $17 (USD) and the sending unit around $30 (USD).

Got home, played with my daughter (who is not use to seeing me home that early in the afternoon...) who then assisted me with the construction of her new wooden toy box that my wife had purchased from Ikea earlier that morning.  Said box just had a lid.  The wife wanted to try and put hinges on it so Lindsy (my daughter...) and I headed down to the local Home Depot to get some hinges.

Completed that project and was not in the mood to deal with the thermostat so I decided to leave it for today.  So I drove the Volvo in and I will head home later this afternoon to do the thermostat and sending unit swap out.

If it doesn't solve the problem, then I'm thinking that it may be a faulty gauge or the wire to the gauge.  I believe the Helm describes how to check both...

Will keep y'all posted...
