Hi,

I wrote you about my engine that  I bought from a guy and he screwed me over, anyways, I was wondering what kind of Engine would fit in my 1990 Honda CRX Si, and would make my car have more horse power but that I wouldnt have to switch or look for axle, or, transmission, like any of that crap. That would actually drop in my CRX. So that I wouldn't have to spend alot of money on, like the other time I bought the other engine? And if you knew how much the engine would actually cost me and where I could get a engine like that near Idaho? This help me out alot if you helped me! Thanks for the information you gave me the other time! Thanks again! Write back soon!

Hey Sandy -

I sort of recall emailing you in the past (I get tons of email so please forgive me if I don't recall you right away...).

In answer to your question, you can drop a ZC, B16, B18 and even a B20 in.  You will need to purchase a set of mounts which are around $450 (USD) from HA Sport.

The best bang for the buck, IMHO, is a ZC.  If I'm not mistaken, you won't need to do anything with respects to your tranny or drive axles (if your transmission is the stock US made ones, the axles will work...).  You will need to replace the ECU, wire harness and I believe the upper radiator hose.

A B16 and B18 will require a few more things such as an ECU, wire harness, fuel injector resistor box, shift linkage, drive axles, upper and lower radiator hoses and I believe throttle cable.  I'm not 100% about the clutch though I know most people do swap it out at this time.

Like I tell everyone else, it doesn't take much to scoot a CRX down the street.  The power-to-weight ratio (with the stock Si engine...) is very good and perhaps one of the best that I've driven.  But there's no substitute for overall-raw-horsepower.

If you live in a State where there is emission requirements, the ZC may not be your best choice.  It's a bit harder to pass (at least by California standards...) and most can't.  The B series engines are easier but still requires some bucks.  But I don't believe Idaho has emission requirements, does it?

As far as engine distributors in your area, I don't know of any.  Most of the ones I know are here in California and they just ship them out.

I have included both Brian Gillespie (from HA Sport; http://www.hasport.com) and the CRX Owners Group Discussion list with this reply to double check the information that I have given above with respects to the engines and what is needed (etc...).  Some of these people also either live in your State or in one of the neighboring ones and so they may be able to assist with a engine sources.

HA Sport also has a list of sources on their web site along with a lot of information on what is needed for each engine swap.  So I encourage you to check it out.

Hope this helps.  Let me know if I can be of further assistance.
