I need a new battery.  Anyone using an optima?  Which one are you using?
Does it fit ok?  My old battery was rubbing the clutch cable, I think it was
too wide.  Let me know if you have the Red Top, that's really the one I was
looking at. Thanks.

I have used Optima's in the past and I need to get one in the Volvo.  They're a proven battery and generic versions of them are used as stock batteries in some European vehicles.  I've had them in just about all of my past vehicles except for one where I used two large Champion batteries with a battery isolator (I was going to replace them with two Optima's but the car got stolen and so I never got around to it...).

With respects with the CRX, I am using American Battery Corp's "Blue Thunder" Gel battery which is a direct replacement for the stock battery so it drops right in.  Actually, I have one of the prototypes in my car which I got back in early 1999.   You can see it in this pic:

You'll have to scroll towards the bottom to see the battery.  You will also note that the terminals/posts are reversed.  Keep in mind that it was a prototype which is why the battery is also not Blue.  They were selling for just under $100 (USD) at the time and the final versions would come in different colors and even different colored caps so you could have a white bodied battery with a blue cap.

I haven't dealt with American Battery Corp since 1999-2000.  But their phone number is (760) 746-8010 and the guy who I was dealing with was Glenn Roberts.  He was the manager.  They're also located in my home town of Escondido which made it nice.  I was suppose to bring this battery back to them when the final version came out so that I would have the proper battery post locations and use the stock battery straps.  But a lot happened and I just never got around to it.  I had to fabricate my own straps which passed both an SCCA and NASA tech inspection.

Over all, I am very pleased with the battery,  It has not failed me when the outside temps are in triple digits and it did not fail me when I was up in Big Bear when it was nearly below zero one winter.
