IF THE NOZZLE ROCKS FROM SIDE TO SIDE WITH LIGHT FINGER PRESSURE, IT IS THE NOZZLE
THAT IS THE SOURCE OF THE LEAK.

I just had the same leak which was from the rear window nozzle. I have a '90 and I
could not get to the nozzle from the inside. Removing the 3" trim panel does expose
some of the roof, but not the area where the nozzle is. There are welded
reinforcement panels that hide the nozzle.

The credit card idea is the best, since I had to remove most of the back half of the
interior in order to get the headliner down, only to realize I still couldn't get to
the nozzle from inside the car. The nozzle is similar to the nozzles used on the
hood. Use the credit card (I used 'Bondo' spreaders) to release the 'tangs'. Force
the card between the gasket and body to push the tangs in (watch the paint). I
believe there are 2 tangs. My gasket was good, just the tangs had lost their grip. I
applied a sealant to both sides of the gasket and pried the tangs back out. And
presto; no more leak. The job should have taken only an hour, but took more like 4+
due to having to remove most of the rear interior trim pieces. And this was after
checking the drain tubes too! I did clean all the dirt and dust from behind the
panels while I was at it.
