Subject: Reminder - Labor Day (Sept 2) Mt. Laguna Drive...

Just a reminder that the Mt. Laguna Cruise is taking place this Monday (September 2, 2002).  As of this email, there are just over 20 cars in attendance (http://www.crx.org/southcal/rsvp.html).  Not bad considering that both Mark Payton of TeamSDX and I were thinking that we would only get about 10 cars (which still would have been fine).

This drive is not limited to just CRX's so if you have friends that drive other makes and models, please invite them along.  However, since this started out as a CRX get together, during the drive, we would like to try and get all the CRX's to line up together like we did with the Julian drive earlier in the year.

Labor Day Monday

Because it is Labor Day Monday, please be aware that the local Law enforcement will be out in force.  Seeing 20+ Jap Imports will no doubt draw attention from everyone (the last Julian drive had just over 40 cars total and one did get pulled over in Julian).  I will be the lead car so I will be keeping the pace to the posted speed limit.  But lets all keep an eye out including over head.  The mountain areas are patrolled by Police planes and Helicopters.

The Drive

There is a map available on the web site (http://www.crx.org/southcal/events.html) of the route.  Prior to the drive, we'll go over the route where I will point out the "re-grouping" locations (in the event that the group gets separated).

What to bring

If anyone has any Motorola TalkAbout radios (or any that are compatible), please bring them.  If you have a spare radio, please bring them.  The more cars that have them, the better off we will be.  If you have a cell phone, my number will be on the map.  However, I am not sure of the cellular signal in this area.  It still will not hurt to bring yours anyway.

As mentioned earlier, I would bring something to drink and perhaps snack on since we are not planning to make any stops for lunch (mainly because there isn't any until we hit Julian).

Cameras!  This should be a pretty scenic drive and we'll make every effort to stop for group photo shots.  If you know of any along the proposed route, please let me know before hand so we can note it on the map prior to departing.

Mount Laguna is reported to be around 6000 ft. above sea level.  Making it the highest point in San Diego County.  It might not hurt to bring a light jacket or sweatshirt just in case.

You may want to pack some basic tools just in case.  On the last Julian drive, one of the cars suffered a flat tire on the way back so you may want to check your spare (if you still have one) or pack a can of Fix-A-Flat.

See you Monday!

Again, the meeting location is:
Denny's
60970 Alvarado
San Diego, CA. 92120
(619) 461-2862
If you are running late, or you are lost, please give me a call at (760) 802-5022.

That's about all I have to say and this will probably be the last update email I send out for this event.

More info about the event can be found at http://www.crx.org/southcal/events.html or just email me at either [EMAIL PROTECTED] or [EMAIL PROTECTED]
