Just do what I did, and make an email rule that instantly deletes any
mail from that blackmusic.ch list. Then you won't have to deal with it
any more.
(* snip *)

The only downside to that is that unless you check your email on a regular or semi-regular basis, you run the risk of your mailbox being full. For those of us that own our own domains filtering (blocking) at the SMTP level is a bit easier (assuming you are also hosting your own SMTP or can at least control it).

What you can do, however, is report the SPAM to your ISP and request to have it blocked. Whether or not your ISP will do it is up to them.

One of hardest things to control, for those of us that own domains, is email spoofing. That's where someone sends out SPAM under your domain. Usually you can track it down to the source but in most cases there isn't much more you can do since the email address is usually a "free" email address (i.e. Yahoo, Hotmail, etc...).

But, setting up filters, rules and using third party blockers is still the easiest and best way to deal with it.

What I use to do in the past is to setup an account on one of the free services, subscribe to whatever mailing list I wanted, set up a filter on said free service (assuming it has the ability to filter) to filter out any email that was not from my mailing list and forward the rest to my POP account. You are, in essence, thwarting SPAM at the SMTP level.

The problem with this is that not all list servers allow for this (where the "Reply to" and the "From" addresses are different). And this is to reduce the risk of SPAM.

If you look on the history of this list in particular, it hasn't fallen to SPAM all that often. Yeah, it pops up once in a while but it's promptly dealt with. This last SPAM attack was perhaps one of the worst that I've experience since being on this list since 1998. And, Andy has dealt with the problem which looks to have done the trick.

Sorry... this was not meant to be a lecture on how to deal with SPAM. :^)
