Check put the condition of the floorboards for rust, especially from the front jacking point along the rocker over to the torsion bar tube that holds the whole car up. From my experience, this is the worst rust risk area on first gens. to a point they can be repaired but some are structurally beyond hope even if the rest of it doesnn't look bad.
One parts car I bought actually had the floor fail on jack stands while pulling the engine out and the car dropped right to the ground around the jack stand. The generally clean 85 Civic S that I just put back on the road for my stepfather is not great there on rust and jqacking at the driver's front jack point just makes sagging, crunchy rust sounds. Be careful there. Also as I recall, the 2nd gear synchros of first gens often didn't care for harsh or rushed upshifts from 1st to 2nd. Keep an ear out for a crunchy upshift that could tell a bad tale. Taking your time to shift can help things but keep an ear open.
