Dave, I know what you mean about not looking!!

If it behaves like mine did, you'll start to notice RUST spots
on the carpet, especially if you use floor mats.  And then in
the spring, you'll notice the smell... seriously.

Obvious things to check would be the windshield and floor
pan.  Beyond that, I don't know.  I was going to use that
spray-in expanding foam insulation to plug leaks, but I just
couldn't find a likely spot!

Under the dash, up where your feet go, there's a molded
black "skin" that has buttons for the carpet to attach to.
Unbutton the carpet, pull it back and have a look.  In my
car, the insulation UNDER the "skin" is wet, at least as
far as I could reach up to.  I wasn't brave enough to start
pulling that black stuff off, but I might just have to in the
spring.  Can't do much but live with it now, at least until
winter's done.
