I was wondering, if people would want our Forum on a Web Page format like other forums on the net are organized? The only reason I ask this is because threads can be categorized, saved and easily searched. Just a thought. But I suppose it cost money to be able to set or host something like that. Don't get me wrong, I like this email format and I have received a lot of help from it, but the web page base type do have their advantages as well. What are your thoughts on it fellow members?

The suggestion of a web-board/forum had come up in the past numerous times.  While the advantages that you list are good ones, I still prefer the email/digest style forum.  They can easily be saved for future reference (and off-line viewing).  They're easier to forward to other people and lists.  Although most of the web board/forums offer the same or sort of the same features, it's still not the same.

There is a cost to operate one (especially if you want it not to have advertisement banners that pop up all over the place) but it's not that bad.  There are free ones, but as I mentioned, you have to deal with advertisements.

My only gripe about web-board/forums is that they're *slow*.  Even if you have fast Internet access.  Some of the better ones are not bad with a broadband connection (because they have some sort of sponsorship which pays for the bandwidth needed).  The slow performance is partly due to bandwidth but most of the time it's from the numerous hits it gets from people just "viewing" - sucking up the bandwidth.

But I can see why some people like the web board/forum format - you can pick and chose your topics is perhaps one of the biggest.  But you know, with email programs such as Outlook and Outlook Express (and Eudora), you can set them up to "Watch a Thread" which sort of accomplishes the same thing.  Sort of...  :^\

Just my thoughts...
