If you're talking about the crankshaft pulley bolt, you need to go counter-clockwise. You'll need one of the following:
air compressor, and strong impact wrench;
wrench with extension and handle extension;
or a friend with one of the above!!
In a pinch, go to a tire shop and they can loosen it for you with a strong impact (charge $5, or free) and then have them tighten it so you can get home, then use one of the above. With time, they can be a real booger to get off!!
