Hey Robert,
Hey Brian...

I've always wondered - does the single wiper give you more horsepower? If
not, then what's the advantage? (Just kidding, by the way.)
By running with a single wiper arm, I reduce close to 1lb which gives me about 0.0000001 HP increase. It won't show up on any dyno but the results can be felt, and measured, out on the track as well as normal driving condition. It also also passes 99.99% of all SCCA and NASA tech inspections for both SOLO-I, II and Open Track requirements. And, it's smog legal in all 50 US States.

But to be completely honest, I did it for show. B^)

Also, can you tell me how your CF hood fits?
Very nicely... :^)

It bolted right up to the stock hinges. I also used the stock spring-latch assembly from my stock hood. I took the opportunity to remove the stock hood-hinge stops so I can prop it straight up which makes working on the engine even easier.

I've heard, and see, some Carbon Fiber hoods not line up properly and people had to bend the stock hinges to get them to line up. Anyway.. mine lined up perfectly using the stock hood bolts too...

I've been considering one for our CRX. Did you have it cleared with a UV-protectant clear coat or just install it bare?
Originally I installed it bare. I just recently had it poly urethaned and clear coated for $80 (USD).

Keep in mind that cheaper CF hoods will yellow and turn brittle as the epoxy breaks-down from UV radiation. I've seen it happen to a
few here in NM.
I've seen that condition on a few of the cars here in Southern Cali. When my car is not in the garage, it's under a car cover which helps.

Thanks,

Brian

No problem.

FWIW, my wife bought the hood for me as a Father's Day gift. I will say that the weight difference is very noticeable.

Other weight savings I've done to the "front" of the car would include the DC Sport Exhaust header (the stock unit is a boat anchor...), the stock cooling fan (replaced it with a Hayden thin electric fan which is really lightweight, draws about half the current and pulls/push a ton of air...) and I suppose you can also count the catalytic converter (the Random Tech Cat that I installed is about half the weight of the stock unit. Flows nice and is smog legal too...).

If I had to guess, I shaved about 50 or 60 lbs. off the front of the car.

So I guess you could say that it does have a certain (small) amount of performance value.

And just for kicks, I ordered the stock smog sticker that is found on the under side of the stock hood. I got it from the local dealer for about $12 (USD) which was a special order item (took about 2 to 3 days to arrive...) AND the dealership requested the VIN off my CRX before they would order it as well as release it to me. I guess since it's considered a "smog/emission" part, they need to verify that it goes to the proper make and model car even though said sticker just shows how the emissions system is hooked up and what the specs should be. There's no C.A.R.B. or other number... it's merely there for the smog technician's reference. Whatever...

Anyways... My wife said she likes how it looks on my car and so do I... :^)
