I've
found it to be the best way is to remove the lower alternator bracket from the
block, and after you do that, it should slide out between the axle and the
suspension - Good Luck!

Hi, how you doin Rob, my name is Shane, and I'm located in Toronto, Ontario. I recently bought a 1990 Honda CRX Si, and it needs a little work to safety and emissions test. One of the things I need to do is check and if necessary replace the alternator. Do you have any idea, pics, or how tos of removing it. I spent all yesterday trying to get it out, some of the nuts and bolts around it were so badly ruster and seized on that I had to "chisel" them off. Once I got it disconnected and loose, the new problem became getting it out of the engine bay. I can't get it to fight coming up or going down, I have some options but I don't want to interfere with any that I don't have to. I'm ordering the HELM manual but that'll be here in a day or two. If you have any ideas, or suggestions for this problem, please let me know, it would be greatly appreciated.

The alternator actually comes out from the bottom by way of the left drive axle area.
I did an alternator R&R "How-To" when I had to mine back in 1999. Before I could publish it out to the web, my hard drive took a dump on me and I did not have a back up of the final document. I did, however, managed to restore the images. I started to rebuild the document but never got around to completing it.

It's not the final version (which I'm not sure when I will complete...) but it has all the necessary information.
