Hey, i need help finding some coilovers.  Ive got some KYB G2 shocks, and i want to put just some basic coilovers on them, and i want them cheap, but not to cheap.  Ive heard the real cheap ones tend to strip and lock up.  Whats the cheapest pair that will last. Thanx, danny.

I've seen them as low as $49 (USD) for a set of four.  I saw it advertised in one of the Jap-Import mags (I don't recall which one...).  But they did not include springs which means you would have to use your stock springs (which in most cases you will most likely have to cut) or an aftermarket lowered spring.

A lot of the lower end coil over kits that I've seen comes with a very poor set of springs in that they get soft and the car just bounces all over the place.

As for stripping and locking up... I suppose that is a concern with threaded setups (not all use this type of setup, Koni makes one with "static" settings which you can select...).  I have the VIS VSpec-II kit and have been using it for about 3 years now and I've not had a problem with mine.  My younger brother has the Skunk2 kit and he too has never had problems.

However, I have heard of some people who have experienced problems with their's seizing up on them... but for the most part all they needed to do was to squirt some WD-40 or Liquid Wrench to free them up again.

While and adjustable coil over kit is nice, I still feel the best setup for most is just a good quality shock (which you have) and a good set of lowered springs.  I'm partial  to the Eibach springs (which is what I used to replace the ones that came with my VIS kit).

If you're still looking to get an adjustable coil over kit, I would save the money and invest in a good quality kit like the Ground Control, VIS VSpec, Skunk2, Bilstein, Koni, Tein, inTrax and Progessive Tech (to name a few...).  These will usually start in the $200 range and go up from there...  Some of these kits also come with a shock.  You'll be happier in the end...
